The Kanak Bhawan, also known as the “House of Gold,” is a stunning and historically significant temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, it is one of the most visited temples in Ayodhya due to its grandeur, architecture, and spiritual significance.

  1. Gift to Sita by Kaikeyi:
    • According to legend, the Kanak Bhawan was gifted to Goddess Sita by Queen Kaikeyi, the stepmother of Lord Ram, after their marriage. It is believed that Sita and Ram resided here.
  2. Reconstructed by Rani Krishnabhanu:
    • The temple was rebuilt in 1891 by Rani Krishnabhanu Kunwari of Orccha, a devotee of Lord Ram. She restored it to its current form, adding intricate architectural details.
  3. Connection to Ramayana:
    • Kanak Bhawan is considered one of the key locations in Ayodhya associated with the Ramayana. It symbolizes the love and union of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.

    • The temple is a magnificent structure with intricate carvings, golden spires, and vibrant interiors. The design reflects the grandeur of traditional Hindu architecture.
