October 13, 2025 /Posted by0110pankajg@gmail.com / 66 / 0

Shree Salasar Balaji Mandir, located in the Churu district of Rajasthan, is one of India’s most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Hanuman (Balaji). The temple holds immense spiritual importance and attracts millions of devotees every year, especially on Hanuman Jayanti and Chaitra Purnima.

Here’s a detailed history of Shree Salasar Balaji Mandir:

1. Discovery and Origin

The origin of the Salasar Balaji Temple dates back to the year 1754 AD (Vikram Samvat 1811).
According to legends, a farmer named Ginthala Jat from Asota village in Nagaur found an idol of Lord Hanuman while ploughing his field.

That very night, Thakur of Asota dreamt of Hanumanji, instructing him to send the idol to Salasar (in Churu district). Meanwhile, a devotee named Mohan Das Maharaj (a local saint) of Salasar also dreamt that an idol of Hanuman would arrive at his place and should be installed there.

When the news reached Salasar, the idol was transported with great devotion, and miraculously, the bullock cart stopped only at one point, indicating the divine location for the temple.

2. Temple Construction

The temple was constructed in 1754 AD by Mohan Das Maharaj with the help of local devotees and villagers.
Over time, it was expanded by Rulers of the Shekhawati region and later renovated by devotees and temple trusts to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

The Shree Balaji Dham Trust currently manages and maintains the temple, ensuring arrangements for pilgrims and temple rituals.

3. Unique Features and Beliefs

  • The idol of Lord Hanuman here is different from traditional depictions — his beard and moustache make him appear in a human-like form, representing power and strength.
  • The temple is considered Shakti Sthal (a place of divine energy).
  • Devotees believe that all wishes are fulfilled when one prays with true devotion.
  • It is also famous for breaking evil spells, black magic, and providing peace and protection.

4. Religious Significance

  • Lord Hanuman (Balaji) symbolizes devotion, power, and protection.
  • Pilgrims tie coconuts, red threads, and locks as offerings to fulfill their vows.
  • The temple is one of the four major Balaji shrines in India, along with Mehandipur Balaji, Mahavirji, and Khatushyamji.
  • It is also believed that Shree Salasar Balaji grants moksha (liberation) and freedom from fear to his devotees.

5. Architecture and Layout

  • The temple’s architecture reflects Rajasthani style, featuring intricate marble carvings, silver doors, and golden ornaments.
  • The main sanctum houses Lord Balaji’s idol, richly decorated with ornaments and garlands.
  • The complex also includes guest houses, food areas, donation offices, and ritual platforms.

6. Festivals and Rituals

  • Hanuman Jayanti and Chaitra Purnima Mela are the most celebrated festivals here.
  • On these days, over 5–6 lakh devotees visit the temple to seek blessings.
  • Regular aarti, bhajan-kirtan, Sundarkand Path, and special havans are performed.
